On Oct 29, 2017, the "Taucher 9" (EU-No.: 04029500) broke lose from its moorings in the ferry port of Cuxhaven in storm Herwart and was pushed against the southern quay. Under the pressure of wind and waves it started to list to port and suffered water ingress. Despite the attempts of the fire brigade to dewater the ship, it finally capsized and came to rest on the bottom. On Oct 31 forces of fire brigade and technical support work THW started to secure the wreck which was surrounded by an oil boom as diesel was seeping out into the harbour basin. Divers started to search a dredge which was lost from the deck so that it may be recovered with a mobile crane.
