Propulsion trouble off Piraeus
The Port Authority of Piraeus was informed in the morning of Dec 11, 2020, by the captain of the 'Tanja Star' about an oil leakage in the main engine, while it was enroute from Piraeus to Mersin with 23 crew members on board. The ship safely returned to the anchorage of Piraeus and dropped anchor in pos. 37° 50.82' N 023° 31.02' E. The Central Port Authority of Piraeus banned it from sailing until the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of seaworthiness and class maintenance by the attending classification society.
Cargo ship to shift repair yard
The "Tanja Rickmers" was expected to leave the Cernanval Shipyard in Campamento between Aug 1 and Aug 3, once all the relevant authorizations have been given. The vessel will then shift to the Navantia Shipyard in Cadiz to continue with the repairs.
Tanja Rickmers changed repair berths
The "Tanja Rickmers" which had been towed to Algeciras on Sep 2, 2017 after propeller shaft breakdown at Huelva in August and berthed at Cernaval Dry Dock in Algeciras, berthed at the Dique Seco in Campamento on March 8, 2018, coming from the "free-zone" pier to effect repairs. The date of completion was currently unknown.
