Disabled bulkcarrier transiting Bosphorus
The 'Tamarack' was granted permission for a Canakkale strait passage and passed eastbound on March 9. It was now waiting to receive the transit passage permission from the Istanbul Strait authority. The transit passage permission will be issued only in the day time, under good weather, limited current along with the escort of Coastal Safety tugs under supervision of a pilot. On March 12 it was towed jointly by the 'RR Spinola' and 'Kurtarma 8' (IMO: 9598610) with the 'Kurtarma 5' (IMO: 9463164), as steering tug at the stern. The ETA to its destination D'Bugskiy was now revised to March 15. On April 3 the 'Tamarack' entered the shipyard at Constantza for permanent repairs which were completed on June 15. Performance test were carried out under satisfaction of Class surveyors. Subsequently, a new set of trading certificates wasissued by the classification society and flag state authority. Upon completion of formalities, the vessel was granted departure permission from the Harbour Master. The ship headed to Novorossiysk where it arrived on June 18.
Disabled vessel under tow to D'Bugskiy
The 'Tamarack', while en route from Conakry to D'Bugskiy, suffered engine failure off Malta in position 35 59 08 N, 014 25 35 E, on Feb 1, 2020. The tug'RR Spinola' (IMO: 9495258) was called to assist and sailed from Valletta on Feb 13 to take the disabled vessel in tow to its port of destination. The towing operation commenced the same day with an ETA at D'Bugskiy on Feb 24.
