Government of Venezuela has detained yet another vessel and its seafarers after inspectors said drugs were found attached under the waterline, british newspaper Fairplay confirmed yesterday. The ship caught in Venezuela’s Puerto La Cruz is the 50,337dwt bulker Maria L, owned by Greece’s shipping company Vrontados. Attorney Aurelio Fernandez-Concheso of Clyde & Co., who represents the owners, told Fairplay that 400kg of cocaine was attached in its rudder access trunk. He reported that all 20 crew – including Greeks, Chileans, Indonesians and Ukrainians – are under arrest aboard the vessel.
