A 22-year-old sailor from Latvia died abord the "Wilson Mersin" poisoned by gas that was used to protect the cargo of grain and which had got into the cabins. The "Wilson Mersin" had entered the port of Antwerp on Dec 23, 2010, and moored at quay 203. The captain informed the authorities about the initially unexplained death. But one day later a second sailor suddenly fell ill. The maritime police immediately launched an investigation and found out the sailors were intoxicated by the gas. The ship had loaded wheat in Liepaja until Dec 18. The prosecutors detained the ship, and for safety reasons the crew was evacuated. They were accomodated at the Seamen's Mission. Experts now have to find out through which channels the gas leaked into the cabins. Anhören Umschrift Wörterbuch - Detaillierten Wörterbucheintrag anzeigen
