Medevac in Flushing
The lifeboat from Breskens was alerted on Dec 20, 2014, after a crew member of the "Symi" suffered cardial problems and had to be evacuated urgently. The "Zeemanshoop" headed to the entrance of the lock port of Flushing where the tanker was bunkering. Once on site, two crewmembers were transferred on board the tanker to examine the patient. The emergency center was asked to send an ambulance towards the Bootliedenwacht BV which was the nearest place. The sailor complained of severe chest pain and loss of function in the arms and legs. It was decided not to take a risk and evacuate him with a stretcher. Via the gangway of the tanker and the deck of the bunker barge "Finitor" the patient was transported onto the lifeboat. Once the stretcher was in the wheelhouse it headed towards the Flushing Bootliedenwacht BV and taken to the hospital from there.
