Allision in Konz
On Sep 19, 2019, at 2 a.m. the "Swiss Crown" (EU-No: 07001725) allided with a railway bridge over the Mosel in Konz. The wheelhouse was severly damaged. The master had misjudged the height and did not lower it enough. The whole roof was torn off. No one was injured. The ship had on board 70 passengers and was headed to Trier at the end of a one week cruise which ended one day earlier now. The damage to the ship was estimated to be in the six-didgit-region, but it remained manoeverable and was able to proceed to the industry port in Trier for investigations and repairs. The railway traffic of the CFL society in Luxemburg was interrupted after the accident and replacement traffic offered between Konz and Luxemburg until the bridge was inspected and found to be undamaged.
