Tug in collision during assistance
In the morning of Feb 23, 2020, the Belgian trawler 'Calyposo - Z84' suffered a broken gear box 10,5 miles west of Trevose Head and went adrift in rough seas in in position 50 31 58.2 N, 005 21 23.4 W. At 7.50 a.m. the RNLI boat from Padstow was called out in support of the fishing vessel. It went on standby until a second Belgian fishing vessel, the 'Soetkin', started towing the stricken vessel to Milford Haven. Once the tow was established the lifeboat crew were stood down and returned to the station. The tow was later picked up by the 'Svitzer Caldey'. But while connecting the secondary line, both vessels collided due to a steering issues experienced by the tug. Consequently, the tug 'Angle ALB' took over the tow up to Pembroke dock. The tug 'Wilanne' then took over and placed the fishing vessel alongside berth 1. It had sustained damage to the centreline. On Feb 24 at 2.50 a.m. the 'Calypso' was berthed at the Milford Haven Ship Repairers North Yard for repairs of the damages, followed by the 'Svitzer Caldey' one hour later.
