Wreck of motor yacht removed months after collision with ferry
The wreck of a motor yacht which had collided with the'Svanoy' on July 2, 2023, near the Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive quay was finally removed from the waters in the evening of Dec 5 by the company MVC Canada. Four persons from Ontario, who were aboard the yacht at the time of the incident, fell into the water. A woman in her fifties, with serious injuries, and a man were then transported to a hospital. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) was analyzing the possibility of conducting an investigation into the events. Ferry damaged at L'Isle-aux-Coudres wharf
The 'Svanoy', en route between Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive and L?Isle-aux-Coudres,, suffered damage during the approaching maneuver at the L'Isle-aux-Coudres wharf on Oct 27 ,2022, at 9.45 p.m. The cause of the incident and the severity of the damage to the vessel was under investigation. An emergency plan was drawn up by the Societe des Traversiers du Quebec (STQ), which included the emergency helicopter service and the requisition of the ferry 'Lomer Gouin' (IMO: 7109221) that normally serves the crossing between Levis and Quebec City.
Ferry disabled off Kanestraum
The "Svanøy" was troubled on the enroute from Halsa to Kanestraum on March 12, 2019, at 11.50 a.m. The ship had suffered a technical failure on the propulsion system on the way to the quay in Halsafjorden. It had to anchor on the Halsa side, and black smoke emerged from the exhaust of the ferry. Fjord1 canceled its departures from Halsa at 1 p.m. and Kanestraum at 1.30 p.m. Another ferry, the Rauma", came to assist and took the casualty in tow after the smoke subsided.
