Sunken sailing ship in Flensburg raised
The "Sutje" sank in the inner port of Flensburg in the night from Jan 30 to Jan 31, 2015. In the morning only the masts remained above water. Witnesses remarked diesel smell, and at 9.45 a.m. the police was alerted. It was found out that the ship spilt fuel oil. The fire brigade laid out oil booms. The Munich owner requested the Flensburger Hafen GmbH to organize the salvage. In the afternoon of Feb 3 a crane barge was brought in position, and divers fixed slings at the hull. Once above the water, the wreck was taken to the Industry Port of Flensburg where a mobile crane took over and lifted the ship onto a trailer. Police officers started an investigation on site.
