Grounding inear Valdivia
The 'Surabaya Express' failed to properly anchor due to strong currents and winds in the area, and drifted aground in the night of May 9, 2020, around 8 p.m. off Corral Bay, Chile. The wood chip carrier which had struck two rocks at Los Molinos (Punta Brava), was refloated with tug assistance, and was anchored again. It heaved anchor early in the morning May 10, and started moving towards Corral Port, Valdivia. The ship had arrived from Shidao on May 9.
