Medevac off Trelew
The Argentine Naval Prefecture carried out the medical evacuation of a crew member aboard the "Sur Este 707" 87 kilometers from the Almirante Marcos Zar airport in Trelew, on Feb 4, 2024. The captain of the ship alerted the Argentine Maritime Authority about the situation of one of the crew members, a 58-year-old man from South Korea, who was experiencing breathing difficulties and severe chest pains. After a radio consultation with an Air Force doctor, the need to urgently evacuate the crew member to provide him with immediate medical attention was determined. The Prefecture deployed specially trained personnel, who boarded the helicopter at the Comodoro Rivadavia airport. Despite unfavourable weather conditions, a precise lowering maneuver of the medical basket was carried out, allowing the crew member to be hoisted successfully. The arrival of an ambulance was coordinated to transfer the patient to the Trelew Sanatorium, where he would receive specialized medical care.
