Ferry suffered engine damage
On the afternoon if Aug 17, the Port Authority of Volos was informed by the Master of the 'Super Star' about a mechanical damage to the starbiard side main engine, ahead of the departure on the planned route from the port of Volos to the ports of Skiathos, Skopelos and back. There were 87 passengers on board, The Central Port Authority of Volos banned the ferry from sailing until the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of maintenance of class by the classifier monitoring the ship. The passengers were forwarded to their destinations by the ship's owning company.
Girl injured by piece of mooring cable
In the afternoon of April 7, the Port Authority of Volos was informed about the injury of a minor at the passenger port of Volos after the arrival of the 'Superstar' in port during the disembarkation of its passengers. The 6-year-old girl, accompanied by her mother and being on the pier near the ship, was injured by a piece of supplementary mooring cable, which was thrown by a member crew of the ship and bounced on the pavement of the wharf. Crew members and ambulance personnel provided first aid to the injured girl, who was then transferred by her relatives to a private pediatrician for further medical treatment.
Engine trouble off Lavrio
The Port Authorities of Lavrio, Kymi, Andros and Karystos were informed in the early morning of Feb 28, 2023, about a damage to the port side main engine of the 'Superstar' 3,5 nautical miles west of Agios Efstratiou, without the Master requesting assistance. The ferry sailed under its own power at a reduced speed to the port of Lavrio, where it safely berthed at 11.40 a.m. UTC and disembarked the 140 passengers and loaded vehicles. The Central Port Authority of Lavrio banned the ship from sailing until the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of maintenance of class by the monitoring classification society. The ship left the port again on March 1 at 10.45 a.m.
