Ship detained after crack in pump
The Port Authority of Naxos was informed by the captain of the "Superspeed" on July 24, that after the departure from Naxos to Koufonissi and Katapola, a sharp drop in the oil pressure was observed in the inner port side main engine. The ferry returned to Naxos where an inspection was carried out by the local ship inspection deck. The loss of oil from a crack in the oil sump was caused by a rupture of a connecting rod. The Port Authority of Naxos detained the ferry until repairs were carried out and a class maintenance cetificate presented by the attending classification society. The ship had operated a scheduled route from Rafina to Syros, Mykonos, Paros, Naxos, Koufonissi and Katapola with 28 passengers on board who were accommodated in local lodgings before they were carried to their destinations with other ships.
Engine failure in Amorgos
The Port Authority of Mykonos was informed by the captain of the "Superspeed' on July 22, 2019, at midday that during the departure procedure the starboard side main engine could not be started during the scheduled service from Amorgos to Koufonissi - Paros - Naxos - Mykonos - Syros and Rafina with 73 passengers on board. An inspection was carried out, and the Port Authority of Mykonos detained the ship until the damage was repaired and a class certificate presented by the attending classification society. The passengers were carried to Syros and Rafina with the care of the shipowner.
Mechanical damage in Poros
On May 29, 2019, the "Superspeed" suffered a mechanical damage in the middle main engine after the ship had arrived in Poros. The ferry had departed from Piraeus with 199 passengers on board. Following the submission of a class confirmation the ship continued the voyage to the port of Rafina. The ship operated the route Piraeus - Paros - Naxos - Mykonos - Tinos - Andros - Rafina.
