Engine trouble off Patras
The Port Authority of Patras was informed on Feb 24, 2023, around midday about a mechanical damage of the port side main engine of the 'Olympic Champion' in the vicinity of pos, 39 19 32.0 N, 020 13 57.0 E, on its scheduled route from the port of Ancona with a final destination of the port of Patras with 94 passengers, 71 crew members, and 85 vehicles on board. The vessel sailed safely to the port of Patras, where the Port Authority of Patras prohibited the sailing of the vessel until the engine was repaired and class maintenance and seaworthiness certificates was issued by the classification society that monitors it. Following the presentation of the certificates, the vessel was permitted to sail.
Medevac in Corfu
In the evening of July 27, the Central Port Authority of Corfu was informed by the Master of the 'Olympic Champion' that a 43-year-old foreign passenger had suffered a seizure while the ship was on its scheduled route Igoumenitsa - Corfu - Ancona. The ferry returned to the port of Corfu in order to disembark the victim, who was picked up by an ambulance, while theship departed from the port of Corfu to continue its scheduled route.
Engine trouble off Patras
The 'Olympic Champion' suffered a breakdown of one of it's four engines in the morning of July 15, 2022, while serving its scheduled route from the port of Igoumenitsa to the port of Patras. She was able to proceed safely to the southern port of Patras with 76 crew members and 466 passengers on board. The Central Port Authority of Patras initially prohibited the "Olympic Champion" from leaving port. Following the issue of a certificate of seaworthiness by the monitoring classification socity, it was permitted to sail with three main engines, with cargo and passengers to its next port of call Ancona.
