The Indian Coast Guard station Beypore on Feb 18, 2022, successfully coordinated the medical evacuation of a mariner from the 'Sundoro' off Beypore. Around 2.30 p.m., the medical distress signal raised from the vessel was received at the maritime rescue sub centre (MRSC), Beypore. The ship’s master intimated that the patient’s health was critical and he required immediate hospitalization. Considering the gravity of situation, the Coastguard diverted its Interceptor Boat 'C-144', which was patrolling in the area, towards the 'Sundoro'. It reached the vessel within an hour and the patient was safely disembarked with adherence to Covid-19 protocol and safety standards by 4.30 .p.m. Narayanan, who is an electro technical officer on the ship, experienced severe stomach pain and profuse vomiting. Once embarked the patient was given first aid en route Beypore.
