Engine shutdown due to technical problems
The ferry service Festøy-Solavågen between Ørsta and Sula was cancelled in the morning of Sep 4, 2015, because of an engine shutdown of the "Storfjord". The "Hjørundfjord" was operating alone until further notice. The ferry lost lube oil pressure on one of the machines. A technician was called for repairs.
Ferry sidelined due to trapdoor trouble
The "Hjørundfjord" was left as the only ferry on the Festøy - Solevågen route after the "Storfjord" had to be sidelined after a trapdoor was inoperative and had to be repaired at 10 a.m. on July 31, 2015. The ferry lay at the north side of the fjord. The ship was sailing again at noon.
Ferry sidelined with engine trouble
Ferry service by the "Storfjord" on the route Festøya-Solavågen was interrupted on July 11, 2013, after the ferry encountered a technical failure of the main engine in the night. There was hope to resume service with a departure from Festøya at 08.45, but later the sailings were cancelled until the afternoon while the crew was working hard to get the error corrected.
