Ship troubled in Kiel Canal

On July 26, 2019, the "BBC Mekong", enroute with a Liebherr mobile crane from Rostock to Antwerp, suffered engine trouble during the westbound transit of the Kiel Canal and got too close to the embankment several times. The SFK tugs "Holtenau“ and "Stein" were called from Kiel to assist after the ship had suffered rudder failure at Gro´ß-Nordsee. They took the ship in tow at Königsförde where the freighter had stopped in accordance with the traffic control in Brunsbüttel. At 7 a.m. the tugs arrived at the site and started to pull the ship to Brunsbüttel where it arrive 2.50 p.n. Clipper Takes Delivery of "Clipper Newark" from Chinese Tongfang Shipyard

Clipper has taken delivery of the newbuilding vessel Clipper Newark. She is the second in a series of four 17,000 dwt multi-purpose vessels ordered from Tongfang Shipyard in China. The delivery of Clipper Newark is in line with Clipper Projects’ strategic goal to renew the fleet. The ship is committed to a T/C until end October 2011.
