Sten Skagen saved capsized fisher
In the afternoon of Aug 25, 2011, a rescue boat of the "Sten Skagen" which was at anchor off Scheveningen saved a man from the sea who was drifting nearby, clinging to a cooler. The man was taken aboard the tanker. He told that the fishing boat "S 105" had capsized when raising the anchor. One other person had managed to climb onto the capsized boat, the second was taken away by the strong current. Coast Guard, an aircraft and a helicopter launched an SAR operation. Two hours later the "Sten Skagen" reported an observation. The aircraft of the Coast Guard headed for the position and located the fisherman who sat on the overturned hull of the fishing boat. He was taken aboard the CG vessel "Zeearend". Meanwhile, the "Kitty Rose Male Nepveu" transferred the other man from the "Skagen Sten" to the "Zeearend". The helicopter lowered a doctor to examine the two fishermen. They were transported to the hospital in Scheveningen then. The lifeboats "George Dijkstra" and "De Redder" from Ter Heijde and Katwijk remained with the CG vessel "Zirfea" in order to salvage the "S 105". It was turned around by the "George Dijkstra" and taken in tow toward Scheveningen and lifted out of the water there.
