Ferry aborted trip due to technical failure
On Mar 11, 2014, the "Steigtind" had to abort its scheduled trip from Bodø to Sandnessjøen at 5.30 p.m. off Arnøya, 30 minutes into the voyage, due to a technical failure. A link of the diesel pump broke, forcing the ferry to head back to Bodø to get a new part due to the reduced engine capacity caused by the failure. The ferry had 67 passengers on board at the time of the accident.
Steigtind kept former Coast Guard boat from grounding
The "Steigtind" assisted a former Coast Guard ship which had suffered rudder damage in rough seas at the end of the Foldfjord in Steigen on Mar 19, 2013. The wooden ship was kept from running aground while the lifeboat "Skuld" was on the way to the place. The situation could be brought under control.
