Steffen C rescued distressed fishermen

Mon Apr 23 10:54:04 CEST 2012 Timsen

The "Steffen C" saved the crew of five of the Norwegian trawler "Bent S" after it sank on Apr 20, 2012, off Aasiaat. The crew members of the trawler "Bent S" had to abandon ship by lifeboat and wait for assistance because the trawler had sprung a leak in a collision with ice flows southwest of Aasiaat city. The trawler sank, while the "Steffen C", which was about one hour away, announced that it was heading for the position. The Grønlands Command contacted the police for help, and short time later, an Air Greenland's helicopter took off from Ilulissat and also was heading for the lifeboat. The five men, however, were already aboard the "Steffen C" and were taken to Aasiaat for medival treatment.
