Ferry lost rudder
On Nov 11, 2024, at noon , the Port Authority of Kalymnos was informed about a malfunction of the rudder on the 'Stavros'. After an inspection of the ship by the local Port Authority and by a private diver, the loss of the port side rudder was found. The Kalymnos Port Authority prohibited the sailing of the ferry until the damage gas been repaired and a certificate of class maintenancpresented by the monitoring classification society. At the same time the process of imposing administrative sanctions against the Master was initiated, as he did not inform the Port Authority about the damage as it should be.
Ferry suffered engine malfunction
On the morning of Aug 31, 2024, the Port Authority of Rhodes was informed by the Master of the 'Stavros' about a malfunction of the port side main engine. The ship was performing an approved route from the port of Rhodes to the port of Megistis and return, with 44 passengers on board. The Central Port Authority of Rhodes initially prohibited the sailing of the ferry- After the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by the monitoring classifcation society, the sailing ban was lifted again.
Anchor trouble in Kalymnos
The Port Authority of Kalymnos was informed in the afternoon of March 7, 2022, by the Captain of the 'Stavros', which was operating a scheduled route, that during its departure from the port of Kos to the port of Astypalea, it had a malfunction at the staboard side anchor. The ship sailed to the port of Kalymnos, with 27 crew members on board. The Kalymnos Port Authority banned the ship from sailing until the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by the classification society that monitors it.
