Collision on the Northsea
In the morning of Nov 24, 2015, the "Stavfjord" was in collision with the "Helena Elisabeth - TX29" in the North Sea, 90 kilometers NW of Texel. The "Helena Elisabeth" was fishing in the traffic lane when the collision occurred. The water police in Den Helder was investigating the circumstances. TThe fishing vessel suffered damage to the beam, starboard side bow and fishing gear and headed to Den Helder for repairs where she berthed on Nov 25 at 11.30 p.m. The "Stavfjord" was underway from Terneuzen to Gothenburg in ballast and could continue its voyage and reached the port on Nov 26 at 2.15 a.m. Photo: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CUld2JbWoAEagty.jpg:large The "Stavfjord" was underway from Terneuzen to Gothenburg in ballast and could continue its voyage. It was thought that an unexpected alteration of the course of the tanker caused the accident.
Tanker grounded off Flushing
The "Stavjord" ran aground between the Boulevard Bankert and the Boulevard De Ruyter off Flushing on Oct 24, 2014, at 8.20 p.m., but was free again at 11.50 p.m. The ship with a cargo of naphta was coming from the Botlek in Rotterdam and was enroute to Dow in Terneuzen when it got stuck in the Sardijn fairway. Tugs were unable to pull the ship off, one salvage attempt failed at 9.40 p.m., and it was decided to wait for the tide to rise. At 10.20 p.m. the tanker started to come off without assistance. The ship continued to Terneuzen on Oct 25 and sailed further to Scheveningen in the morning of Oct 26.
