Two men charged for drug smuggling

Two men have been charged with attempting to possess a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug after a quantity of cocaine was found stuck to the bottom of the 'Stalo' at the Graincorp Operations Carrington Terminal in Newcastle, New South Wales, on Jan 24, 2023. The vessel had arrived from Rizhao on Jan 24 under police escort. The matter was being investigated jointly by the AFP and NSW State Crime Command, and the enquiries were ongoing. The ship left Newcastle again on Jan 29, headed to Nansha with an ETA as of Feb 16.

Two men have been charged after a quantity of cocaine was found stuck to the bottom of the 'Stalo' at the Graincorp Operations Carrington Terminal in Newcastle. They have been charged with attempting to possess a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug. A quantity of the drug was allegedly attached to the hull of the bulk carrier which had arrived from Rizhao on Jan 24, 2023, under police escort. The matter was being investigated jointly by the AFP and NSW State Crime Command, and the enquiries were ongoing.
