Two boaters rescued after collision with tug
On Dec 1, 2013, a good samaritan rescued two people after a collision between an 18-ft-recreational boat and the "Jude Thaddeus" in the Intracoastal Waterway about 3 miles southwest of Port O'Connor. They reported seeing two people go into the water after the boat capsized 2 miles from Coast Guard Station Port O’Connor, and they acted quickly to retrieve them. The Coast Guard received the report at 5:50 p.m. and the Station Port O’Connor launched a 25-foot response boat to render assistance. The good Samaritan had the two people safely aboard when the Coast Guard crew arrived. The cause of the collision was under investigation.
