Man rescued after fall into cargo hold
New Orleans firefighters performed a high-angle rescue after a longshoreman was injured when he fell 60 feet into the cargo hold of the 'St. George' at the Poland Ave. Wharf in New Orleans on Oct 12,2021. Approximately eight units and 23 personnel were dispatched to the scene at around 5:40 p.m. Crews rappelled into the hull with spine board and other rescue equipment to lift the victim to the deck. The man, who was conscious and communicated with responders during the entire operation, had only suffered a broken arm. Fire department personnel had the scene under control about 45 minutes after arrival. Master medevaced off Huelva
On April 13, 2021, the 'St. George', enroute from Norfolk to Gibraltar, sailing 90 nautical miles from Huelva, while entering the Strait of Gibraltar from the West, requested the medical evacuation from the captain. The CCS Tarifa mobilized the helicopter Helimer 207, which hoisted the patient and transported him to Jerez, where an ambulance took him to the Seguridad Nautica Hospital for further care. The 'St George' moored on Gibraltar Anchorage West on April 14 in pos. 36° 7.39' N 005° 21.92' W.
