MOL retires Spirit of MOL training ship
Japan's MOL has decommissioned its training ship, the Spirit of MOL, after six years of service and after 2,200 cadets from India, the Philippines, and Russia undergoing training aboard. The shipping line said the vessel has also made important contributions to society through activities such as relief efforts after typhoon disasters, and received an award from House of Representatives of the Philippines and Lloyd's List Safety at Sea International Awards 2008. Earlier, MOL launched a new training programme called Cadet Actual Deployment for Education with Tutorial (CADET Training), which takes over the training done on the Spirit of MOL.
