Ship diverted due to unsafe conditions
On the morning of Sep 21, the Port Authority of Syros was informed by the Master of ‘Speedrunner Jet 2’, which was performing a scheduled route from the port of Thira to the ports of Paros-Mykonos-Syros-Piraeus, that its approach to the port of Syros was considered unsafe due to the adverse weather conditions and that the ship would continue its voyage to port of Piraeus. The passengers and vehicles that were to disembark at the port of Syros wee forwarded to their destination by another ship, while similarly, 220 passengers who were waiting for boarding, wee forwarded to their destination by the company.
Overheating in flue compartment
On the afternoon of Aug 20, 2024, the Port Authority of Thessaloniki was informed by the master of the 'Speed Runner Jet 2', which was moored in the port, that an alarm was given by the smoke sensor in the flue compartment, as an overheating was detected. An emergency inspection was carried out by the Central Port Authority of Thessaloniki, and the ship was subsequently banned from sailing. Upon presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by the ship's surveyor, the ship's approved voyages were allowed to continue.
Crew member injured in fall on board
The Port Authority of Heraklion was informed in the morning of Sep 22, 2022, that a crew member of the 'Santa Irini' was injured at his left knee, after falling on the stern ramp of the ship. The victim was transported by ambulance to the General Hospital of Heraklion, from where he was discharged. A preliminary investigation was carried out by the Central Port Authority of Heraklion.
