Freighter towed to Rotterdam
The "Spaarnegracht" suffered engine failure in the North Atlantic. The ship was enroute from Husum, Sweden to Baltimore, USA, ETA May 23, with a cargo of paper products on board and was drifting about 700 miles NNW of the Azores. At the same time the tug "Dian Kingdom" (IMO: 9660944) was underway to Rotterdam coming from the south. After contract terms were agreed on May 18, 2018 it was decided to divert the tug to Flushing where she took bunkers and stores over-night and headed towards the "Spaarnegracht" in the morning of May 19. The mobilisation was approx. 1.500 miles away, and the "Dian Kingdom" arrived at the casualty in the early morning of May 26. Within 30 minutes the tug connected to the "Spaarnegracht", and the convoy started heading for Rotterdam. After a smooth journey the "Dian Kigdom" safely delivered the cargo ship to her owners on June 4 at the SCA Logistics Interforest Terminal in Rotterdam. At 1.15 a.m. the "Spaarnegracht" berthed at the SCA Transforest Terminal in the Prins Willem Alexander Port.
