Medevac off Isle of Wight
A crew member with a dislocated shoulder has been medevaced from the 'Songa Jade' while at anchor at St. Helens Roads off the Isle of Wight by the Bembridge RNLI Lifeboat on Dec 12, 2021. The Bembridge’s All Weather Lifeboat launched at 6:40 p.m. following a request from the Solent Coastguard. It did not take long for the volunteer lifeboat crew to reach the tanker, however, as the only means of disembarking the casualty was via a boarding ladder, it took some time to rig up a block and tackle to allow the safe transfer of the casualty to the 'Alfred Albert Williams'. Once onboard, at around 7:35 p.m., the lifeboat headed to Portsmouth Camber to await the arrival of South Central Ambulance Service. After a considerable wait, it was agreed that they could leave the casualty with Portsmouth Coastguard Rescue Team and return to Bembridge. Departing the Camber at 8:40 p.m., the 'Alfred Albert Williams' was back at the boathouse at Lane End at 9 p.m.
