Grounding on Amazonas

Wed Aug 14 10:45:10 CEST 2019 Timsen

The "Solina", en route from Santarem to Tuxpan with a cargo of corn, ran aground on the Amazon River near Munguba Port on Aug 11, 2019, at 7.10 a.m. LT.Agents and the Port Authority were subsequently informed and it was decided to wait for a suitable tide which was expected at 3 p.m. If the attempt failed, a salvage team was to be called for assistance. In fact the refloating attempt failed as the water level was not suitable. A class representative of DNV was to board the ship, before commencing the salvage operation with tugs. On Aug 14 the ship was still stuck in pos. 01° 27.78' N 052° 11.44' W. The "Solina" was sailing again on Aug 18 at 10.20 p.m. and headed to Santana where it arrived on Aug 21 at 10.50 a.m.
