11 out of 13 distressed fishermen rescued
The "Nordlily" saved one fisherman of a Vietnamese fishing vessel which had sunk with 13 crew members in the South China sea in vicinity 02 04N 104 39E, about 55 nm northeast of the Singapore Strait in the night of Jan 11, 2018, at 11.30 p.m. The fisherman, floating in sea, was rescued in the afternoon of Jan 12. The "Asiatic Dawn" rescued eight more fishermen some two hours later 10 nm south of the sinking site; the bulk carrier "MG Neptune (IMO: 9790919) rescued two more fishermen. Two fishermen remained missing, Vietnamese, and the Singaporean and Malaysian MRCC were coordinating an SAR operation, deploying a patrol boat, a Super Puma helicopter and a Fokker plane.
