Two crew members aboard the 'Sofia Express' have tested positive for COVID-19
Two crew members aboard the 'Sofia Express' have tested positive for COVID-19, and five more were isolating while they wait for test results. Patrick Bolen, first vice president of ILWU Canada said, Vancouver pilots at Deltaport objected strenuously to allowing the ship to dock in port on Aug 22, 2020. Local pilots brought the ship into Deltaport in the morning, after it had spent most of the week moored offshore. Discussions with Global Container Terminals led to extensive cleaning, restrictions on the movements of the 'Sofia Express' crew and conversations that would normally be done in-person being had by phone instead. Work began on the 'Sofia Express in the night. The ship left port on Aug 25 and moored on Vancouver anchorage where it remained stationary as of Aug 27.
