Ship aground off Szczecin

The 'SMP Novodvinsk', en route from Swinoujscie to Szczecin with a cargo of rolled steel on board, veered off the navigation channel in fog and ran aground while proceeding in the Szczecin Lagoon in position 53 47 54 N, 014 21 15 E, on Jan 12 at 2.45 p.m. The vessel remained located outside the fairway and did not obstruct passing ship traffic. During the past three weeks, only one unsuccessful attempt was made to refloat the vessel. An underwater inspection of the hull was carried out, during which no damage to the hull was found, and no environmental pollution was observed. The Szczecin vessel traffic control service continued to monitor the position and the condition of the vessel which remained stuck as of Feb 4.

Engine failure off Ravenna

The 'Prudence', 4106 BRZ (gt, built 2008), suffered an engine failure after sailing from Patras to Ravenna on Feb 5, 2020, at 5.20 p.m. The vessel moored at the Patras anchorage to conduct repairs. The Port Authority of Patras detained the vessel at the anchorage until the engine was repaired and a class certificate of seaworthiness was issued. The ship arrived in Ravenna on Feb 9 at 11.30 a.m. It sailed again from the port on Feb 16 at 12.20 a.m., next bound to Antwerp with an ETA as of Feb 29.
