Search for missing crew member suspended
The US Coast Guard has suspended its search for a missing crew member of the 'Smith Invader' near Sabine, Texas on Feb 7. Coast Guard crews searched approximately 206 square miles for a combined 23 search hours. The search involved close coordination between state and local agencies. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston command center watchstanders received a notification on Feb 6 at 6:10 a.m. from the tug, stating a crew member was last seen at 10 p.m. Sunday and was noticed missing after a crew boat was supposed to transfer him off the vessel.

The US Coast Guard, along with state and local responder started a search for a missing 35 year old crew member of the 'Smith Invader' near Sabine, Texas, on Feb 6, 2023. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston command center watchstanders received a notification at 6:10 a.m. from the tug,stating the crew member was last seen on Feb 5 at 10 p.m. and was noticed missing after a crew boat was supposed to transfer him off the vessel on Feb 6 at 6 a.m. The watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and directed the launch of a 25-ft-boat of the Coast Guard Station Sabine and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter of the Coast Guard Air Station Houston to search for the missing crew member.
