Wreck removal halted
The "Smit Cyclone" jointly with the "Taklift 1" is actually removing the wreck of the sunken car carrier "Hyundai 105" off Singapore where it sank in 2004. 2 flattop barges loaded with several large pieces of scrap steel recovered by Smit Salvage are being anchored for several weeks now in the Singapore Straits awaiting permission by Indonesian authorities for discharging ashore. The salvage works on the wreck are at present “on hold” leaving both sheerlegs and the supporting units "Smit Lloyd 27" and "Ibis" idle anchored near the wrecksite.
