Container ship will spend weeks in Victoria

Mon Jan 03 21:29:16 CET 2022 Timsen

The 'SM Busan', which had suffered a mechanical problems will spend the next few weeks in Victoria for repair works. The vessel was docked at Victoria's Ogden Point in the morning of Jan 2 fir emergency repairs. The vessel was on its way from Portland to South Korea but got stranded in the Pacific Ocean on Christmas Eve, drifting for two days before slowly making its way to Victoria. It had entered Victoria waters on the night of Jan 1 and anchored at the Constance Bank. The plan was to bring the vessel straight to Ogden Point, but high winds prevented the ship from docking until the morning of Jan 2. Oil was expected to be drained from the vessel on Jan 3, before repair works can begin on the engine. The cleaning of the inside of the vessel'S tank will occur over the next couple of days. Most of the containers on board were empty. Photos: http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=3377355 http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=3377354
