Damaged ferry back in port
Shortly before 5 p.m. on April 12 the fully loaded "Skarven" entered the port of Svinö with own engine. Many of those who were evacuated after the grounding in the morning were on site to collect a total of 19 cars and working vehicles such as trucks and trailers or an excavator. The dive inspection in the afternoon had showed that the "Skarven" had suffered a several meter long breach at the port side three meters below the waterline after the contact with a blasted rock edge under water in the narrow of the Ekholms Sound. It was still unclear what led to the accident, whether it was a human failure or a technical error. On April 14 at 11 p.m. the ferry was docked at the Oy Western Shipyard Ltd. in Teijo for repairs.
