Grounding off Vadsø
On May 1, 2021, at 7 a.m. the 'Havfluna - AG-277-K' ran aground just after having left Vadsø harbour towards the Varangerfjord. The ship got stuck with a list of 45 degrees to port side. After a while, the crew managed to straighten up the ship and remove it from the shallow. Then they sailed out of the quay area. The Finnmark police was in contact with the crew several times, but that they did not want to stop but wanted to go out to sea to check that the engine was in order. The reason why the ship ran aground was still unknown. The Norwegian Maritime Directorate regarded the grounding as a serious incident and stated it was completely inexplicable why the crew choose to proceed in this way. The case will be followed up, and at some point the fishemen will have to take responsibility for their actions and explain themselves. They should have reported a grounding to the Norwegian Maritime Directorate before they moved on.
