Three crew members jumped over board, two missing
Three crew members of the 'Simba' jumped overboard in the morning of June 15, when the ship, which had just left Jacksonville en route to Colon, was passing Fort George island in the St. Johns River. One of them was caught shortly after he reached the shore, the two others were still missing with a search being under way. A total of five agencies were participating in the search. Border patrol agents were scouring yards and the wooded area off of Fort George Road for hours aided by a helicopter and K-9 units. All of them wanted to stay in the USA as migrants. The 'Simba' sailed out of the river and dropped anchor, before returning to Jacksonville three hours later. The ship, which had departed JAXPort at 8 a.m., returned to port at Blount Island around 2 p.m. and sailed again on June 16 at 8.20 a.m.
