Eimskip offloads reefer trio
Icelandic shipping line Eimskip has sealed an agreement to sell three of the company‘s reefer vessels for $12m. The vessels sold are the Langfoss (built 1991), Stigfoss (1990) and Vidfoss (1990), all of which have been operated by Eimskip in Norway for 20 years. Eimskip says it will be taking one of the vessels back on charter for the next two years.
Engine failure caused allision
The cause of the allison of the "Stigfoss" with the dock in Biltrend on Aug 21 was caused by the engine not stopping in time so that the ship slammed into the dock according to the terminal manager at Troms Fryseterminal, Kurt Einar Tårnes. The ship had suffered a main engine failure. Both quay and ship were damaged in the incident. Reefer Stigfoss damaged in allision with berth after engine failure
Reefer Stigfoss allided with berth in Tromsdalen, Tromso, Norway, in the morning Aug 21, while mooring, due to an engine failure. Berth was damaged, vessel suffered crack and dents in starboard side bow, just above the bulbous nose.
