Grounding near Måløy
The "Silver Pearl" ran aground on the East side of the Ulve Sound in the Vågsøy municipality in the night of Apr 10, 2016. The vessel was heading north enroute to a sardine factory on Trollebø when it got stock at 4 a.m. The ship had to wait for high tide before it could be refloated at 11 a.m. by the tug "Stadt Aardal" and "BB Supporter" and docked in Måløy. A technical fault in the engine was thought to have caused the grounding. The crew of 13 was not injured. Also the lifeboat "Simrad Buholmen" and the Norwegian Coast Guard vessel "Njord" attended. The "Nordjarl" suffered machine failure in the morning of Sep 4, 2010, in the Valderhaugfjord between Hamnøya and Valderøy. It was taken in tow a short distance from grounding and taken to Ålesund. Police and shipping authority started an investigation which showed that an electronic failure had caused the blackout and the crew subsequently lost control of the ship. Diver surveyed the hull in case there had been bottom contact. The ship had been underway from Rørvik to Ålesund.
