Ship detained in Porto Empedocle

Mon Mar 04 11:19:56 CET 2019 Timsen

The Coast Guard of Porto Empedocle detained the "Silver Lion" following a Port State Control on March 2, 2019. The ship was arrested after a thorough inspection carried out by the PSC inspectors led by the Captain of Fregata Gennaro FUSCO. The ship appeared to be in sub-standard conditions according to the international regulations for the safety of the navigation. The vessel had sheltered in Porto Empedocle due to bad weather. Serious deficiencies concerning the bilge water separation system were found, more defiencies concerned the auxiliary emergency generator and the quality of the ship's safety management system. The ship must bechecked by the inspectors of the Italian Naval Registry (Rina Services), responsible for issuing the safety certification and the Russian Classification Register responsible for issuing the quality assurance certificate before being allowed to sail again. She sailed again on March 7 at 3.30 p.m. She headed to Varna where she docked at the Hellenika Dry Dock on March 28 at 9.15 a.m. SHe left the port again on May 3 at 10.45 p.m., bound to Bartin, where she arrived on May 15 at 9.15 a.m. Italian report with photo: https://www.agrigentooggi.it/avaria-ai-sistemi-anti-inquinamento-nave-antigua-barbuda-fermata-dalla-guardia-costiera/
