Brigantine refloated

The 'Signora del Vento' has been refloated on Nov 18 and was towed to the “La cittadella” quay, which is located inside the NATO Navy depot of Gaeta by two tugs. The recovery operations, coordinated by the Italian Coast Guard and supported by divers, were completed only at 10 p.m. Before, mobile cranes had removed all unsafe equipment. The ship will remain at the berth during the necessary inspections and repairs before proceeding to a shipyard to get restored again. Brigantine grounded in storm in Gaeta

The 'Signora del Vento' broke off her moorings at the Italcraft shipyard at the Caboto wharf in Gaeta, went adrift and ran aground on the city’s waterfront 15 meters from the shore on a water depth of three meters on Nov 16, 2019, sustaining heavy damage. Two of the three masts broke. The accident was caused by a strong wind with more than 40 knots speed and four meters wave height, which destroyed several other boats too, and heavy seas battering the coast. A patrol boat of the Gaeta Coastguad was monitoring the grounding site.
