Lifeboat ends its career as museum ship in Juist
On April 29, 2020, the 'Siegfried Boyse' arrived in Juist where it will serve as a museum ship in the future. Until all preparations have been completed, the ship remains berthed in the marina of the sailing club Juist. The crew had started in Neustadt, where the boat had served for training purposes in the final chapter of its career, but had to stop in Cuxhaven due to a storm on March 3. Then the corona restrictions caused further delays because the crrew got no permission to enter the island port. Finally the boat proceeded to Norddeich, where the boat was handed over to Gerd Schwips, the coxwain of the lifeboat 'Eugen' in Norderney. As he is living on Juist, he was permitted to take the boat along with two volunteers of the station Juist into the port. The final voyage from Cuxhaven started on April 27. On April 30 it was formally handed over.
