Fire on Gozo ferry

On Aug 23, 2021, at 7.45 a.m. a fire broke out aboard the 'Your Faith' on its way from Mgarr to Valletta. The ferry returned to port, and the passengers had to be evacuated. Immediately, a boat arrived to carry the passengers to safety. Women, children and elderly were the first to be taken ashore by the boats which are those normally used to carry passengers to Comino, were on scene. All 60-80 passengers on board were disembarked safely, with nobody injured. Fire suppression systems were immediately activated by the crew. At 8.15 a.m. the ferry was back in port. Investigations awere launched to determine the cause of the fire. ivil Protection Department firefighters subsequently boarded the vessel to ensure the fire was put out and to supervise the subsequent cool-down. The passengers were then transferred to a Virtu Ferry that was on standby to take people to Valletta.
