Grounding on the Don
The 'Shaman' with 14 crew members, loaded with a cargo of coal ran aground on March 16, 2020, at 9.30 a.m. on the lower Don in the Azov region near Donskoy village while en route from Rostov-on-Don to Koper. A tug was sent to help the vessel by the Russian Emergency Ministry in the Rostov region. No oil spill and restrictions for shipping were reported. After refloating, the ship was due to return to the port of Azov for inspections.
Crew member injured by steam
On the Don River in Rostov, escaping steam caused an explosion and injured a Russian crew member of the "Volgo 4004" on Oct 24, 2018. The accident happened during the transfer of diesel fuel. The regional emergency department attended with an ambulance, and the injured was hospitalized. There was no fuel spill. The explosion occurred because of a steam-air build up. The vessel which had stopped near Rostov-on-Don on the River Volga, for loading grain, was not damaged. Grounding in Azov
The "Volga 4004" ran aground in Azov port on the river Don in the approach fairway near buoy 79, late at night on July 5, 2016. The vessel managed to refloat by own means at 02.15 a.m. on July 6, and resumed its voyagge. The unloaded ship was underway from Gebze to Rostov.
