Ades under repair in Tuzla
On Jan 31, the 'Ades' arrived at Tuzla and entered a upon completion of formalities. A detailed damage survey was carried out by the class surveyors together with the owner's technical superintendent. Repairs were carried by the appointed shore-based technical teams. The vessel finally left the yard on April 16 and has been renamed 'Des'. The ship berthed in Istanbul on April 24 before proceeding to Burgas as next port of call where it dropped anchor on April 27 at 12.20 p.m.
Freighter under tow to Tuzla for repairs
The 'Ades' after having been towed to Kalymnos for repairs, was currently under tow by the 'Asteri' (IMO: 6721967), to a Tuzla shipyard for permanent repairs, after an initial damage survey was carried out off the island. The vessel was expected to reach Tuzla by Jan 31. During the Canakkale Strait transit, a Coastal Safety tug provided escort service for vessel and traffic safety. ETA Tuzla was Jan 31, 5 p.m.
Freighter disabled in Aegean Sea
The 'Ades' was disabled due to a mechanical failure in the Aegean Sea in the evening of Jan 23, 2020, while trying to shelter from stormy seas south of Levitha island. While the ship drifted southwards, the master requested towing assistance. The tug 'Pothitos' (IMO: 9012094) was deployed from Kalymnos and took the ship in tow on Jan 24 at 03.15 a.m. bound to Kalymnos for relevant repairs. The 'Ades' had been en route from Haifa to Tuzla at the time of the incident.
