Collision in Bosphorus

The "Şehit Sami Akbulut" collided with the "Piri Reis Üniveritesi", which was about to berth at Sarayburnu Port, in the Istanbul Strait in the region between Eminönü and Kabataş on June 28, 2019, at 12.35 p.m. There was minor material damage to both ships, but no injuries. The training ship hit the ferry at its starboard side bow despite attempts to evade each other. Both ships were taken to a safe area and an investigation was started. The training vessel was guided by a pilot and made the necessary maneuvers in accordance with the COLREG (International Regulations for the Prevention of Collision at Sea) in order to prevent the accident.
