Ferry grounded off Bartin

The Amasra Port Authority imposed an administrative fine of 250000 TL on the operator of the 'Şehit Necati Gürkaya', that ran aground while anchoring off the coast of Amasra district of Bartın on Oct 5, 2024. When the anchor of the ship was damaged in a storm, the operator applied to the Amasra District Governor's Office and received permission to move to fix the anchor. After leaving the Büyük Liman, the ferry tried to anchor again in the port, but lost control and ran aground in an area close to the beach. When the efforts of the fishermen in the area to remove the ferry from the beach were unsuccessful, a tug was brought from Zonguldak Ereğli Port on Oct 6. Ferry broke lose in storm

The 'Sehit Necati Gurkaya' (IMO: 7389936), broke lose from its moorings and allided with the pier in adverse weather conditions at Amasra's inner port on Nov 19, 2023, at 11 a.m. The ferry was at risk of running aground. A patrol boat of the Coastguardd attended the scene. The vessel was secured and re-berthed at the pier under the assistance of a patrol boat of the Navy. Structural damages were noted on the side plating together with the aft mooring station. A detailed damage survey was to be carried out upon the improvement of the adverse weather conditions in the area. No injuries or pollution were reported due to the incident.
